Positive: After reading the reviews on Booking, I thought it would be a good hotel to visit during our trip. The hotel is on a charming small street, and it is waterfront. The days were very sunny and pleasant. It is located close to great Costa Brava hiking places and small towns. The restaurant manager is very passionate about his job and tried to remedy a few things that went wrong, see described below. The tall man at the reception was very attentive and explained to us how to find parking and buy swimsuits for the sauna. We enjoyed the sauna.
Negative: We usually do not post bad reviews. We had high expectations for this hotel, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to its four-star rating—it felt more like a solid three-star experience. The room was quite snug for three people, with a pull-out couch that was much smaller than in other hotels. We arrived at 1 PM, knowing check-in was later, so we went out to explore. When we returned at 4:30 PM, our room was still not ready due to a "miscommunication." We rolled with it. To make it up the bellman gave us a free drink cupon. There’s no on-site parking, so you have to use public paid parking in town. Luckily, we had a Tesla and managed to park at a charging station for a while. The bellman seemed a little lost, running around like he wasn’t quite sure what to do. I don’t mind carrying my own bags, but at a four-star hotel, the bellman did that in other hotels. When I lightly touched the bathroom mirror, it fell off the hinges. Thankfully, no one was injured, but this was definitely not a feature we were expecting! The restaurant experience was... an experience. The staff seemed to forget our order, and since it was the holiday season, there was a set three-course menu. We waited over an hour for dessert, watching tables around us get theirs. When we finally got the waiter’s attention, he asked us to remind him what we had ordered—oops! My husband and son ordered steak, which turned out to be just raw and tough. My husband tried eating his and go to bed, but we had to send my son’s back. To their credit, they replaced it, and at this point, the restaurant manager stepped in to smooth things over. He kindly offered us an extra night at the same rate, which we appreciated, though he also invited us to their New Year’s Eve party at full price, which we politely declined. Overall, this hotel had its moments, but it didn’t quite meet four-star expectations. While we made the best of it and had a few laughs along the way, we wouldn’t rush back.
